all signs are pointing to YES

Let's see.

Last week at the gym he stripped down, ripped off his diaper and alerted the babysitting attendant that he needed to go pee-pee.

Do you think he's ready, or what?

Problem is...AM I READY?

Yesterday we burned through 7 pairs of Diego, Cars, & Spiderman "big boy" undies.

We (and when I say "we" I mean "I") cleaned up 3 bodily spills out of the carpet.

He consumed lots of pee-pee treats i.e. colored marshmallows and left-over chocolate Santas.

He snuck in a shameful hide-behind-the-plant-in-the-living-room private poop.

And seriously...will we ever be able to leave the house?

But really.  I think he is ready.

Advice is welcome.  I'm a first timer.

Cheerios in the toliet water, or colorful paper, makes for great aim..sometimes I use this technique on Opy too(j/k)..boys all need a lil' help with there aim.

Oh I am sorry to say, but I never let Kimball stand when we were first training. He sat backwards (on a big toilet, I think potty chairs are kinda gross and germy. I didn't want to dump pee! we never had aiming issues. I would also set the timer for every 20min. It Kinda worked like the Pavlov's dog theory, he would hear the timer go off and whala, had to go pee-pee. The poop thing came later. Whole other story. Oh, I hate potty training...good luck my friend!!!

I waited forever to potty train because I was so scared of it. But let me just say it was the best thing I ever did and I can't wait to do it again with Carter. It's only a week of pain for a life time of freedom after.
I went to the dollar store and bought a bucket and filled it with toys and candy. Right after she would go we would RUN and jump and scream to the toy bucket and she would pick out a treat. It was fun had by all!
Good luck my friend. It's so worth it.

Waiting 'til they are ready and then I liked summertime nudies and the great outdoors. Everyone is different and expect those setbacks. I don't know any 15 year olds in diapers! :D

I too had Hank sit down to pee...and still do because I HATE stinky pee on the floor behind the toilet. YUCK!

Hank didn't potty train till he was 3 1/2 so I don't really know how to train youngin's but I've heard naked is the way to go. With the undies on, it can feel too much like a diaper and they forget. Of course, who wants to deal with a wild spray unexpectedly?

Patience, patience, patience. Which happens to be something I've been running short on lately.

Good luck, my brave friend.

Ali, if I have any advice it is stay consistant! I went through the potty thing with Londs(girl, Jack(boy)so I think there is a small difference. Check out 3day potty training(http://www.3daypottytraining.com/start.htm) It was super helpful! My husbands cousin also took the three day crash course with their 2 year old and had great success. They say at 22 months is the ideal and perfect time to start potty training even with BOYS.The author has 3 boys?! Take a look, maybe it will help.
It took London 5 days and she was good to go... although we never left the house and I learned that reminding her consistantly was the key( asking "let mommy know when you need to go potty") She is very independent and did not like when I asked her"do you need to go potty"?)It had to be her idea and success was shortly made! These little guys/gals get so busy playing they need extra help realizing that they need to go potty.
Good luck.. Marsha

This is all some great advice. I like the cheerios in the toliet. Make it fun, make it something that he wants to do. Good luck, have fun, relax, there will be pee everywhere, just know that you can clean your carpets after it is done.

I am absolutely not a potty training expert as Hazel wasn't trained till 4. Pars was lots easier--2 1/2. I say no easy answer. So sorry. I hate potty training!

P.S. I like your new picture!

You are so funny.
Oh boy, what a fun time in your house! With Olive, we stayed inside for 3 whole days and she was naked from the waist down the entire time and constantly sipping from a big gulp full of water. We sat her buns down every 45 minutes or so and praised big time for just sitting on the potty. If any potty was found in the toilet (we used a little tiny toilet) we jumped up and down as if we won the lottery and she loved that! After about three days, we were pretty good, but nowhere near perfect. Just make sure you are armed with a lot of patience and the number of a great carpet cleaner. Also, try moving that plant he pooped behind in your restroom. That may be a good start. Good luck!!!

Borrow Jayden and Joel for a week and let him learn from the masters. Kids want to be like other kids.

ps- get ready for your bathroom to forever smell like a public ( I'm talking like park) restroom for the next 10 years if not longer.

Have fun!

I have to say, potty training has been my LEAST favorite thing about parenthood so far. Going on 1 1/2 yrs, Henry still has problems with numero dos on the potty. So, don't look to me. We've tried everything. When I plead for advice from my pediatrician, he just smiles condescendingly and says, "Some boys don't get it until 5." FIVE? We started at 2 1/2!

Good luck!
