This is a keeper.

I'm always looking for a new tradition.  I think this one might be a keeper for the Fall.
Nothing fancy.  Just some good ole fashioned...

caramel APPLE making

It was really easy, super fun and delicious to boot!

Here is a tip I found online.  For every cup of candy caramels, add 1 tablespoon milk.  Then microwave them until melted, stirring occasionally.  So easy.  Nothing Martha about it (sheena)

Emily was gracious enough to share some bites of her GINORMOUS apple smothered with caramel and Heath candy bar bits.  Jack had been eyeing it all night!

And because I had been dreaming of these for a week, I had to make my own special rendition of my favorite caramel apple E.V.E.R.

1st layer - white chocolate
2nd layer - caramel
3rd layer - brown sugar with lots of cinnamon

You won't be disappointed!  It tastes like apple pie, but better!

I've been debating on whether it would be worth it to make caramel apples this year since I'm really the only apple eater in the house... but after seeing your yummy-enough-to-eat pics I've added caramel and apples to my grocery list. YummY!!!

Hey Ali you even moved me...It was John's Sunday to teach the High Priest's Quorum and they have become acustomed to goodies when he teaches so I did the caramel apples. We didn't get home from Dinner Group until after 11:00 p.m. and I made about 2 dozen apples so I finally crawled into bed at 3:00 a.m. It went over well. I have a big Halloween Party this Saturday (64 invited...crazy I know) and thought about the apples, but I'd have to make homemade caramel just to make the process faster. I do have some "goulish" games planned and "devilish" desserts. On Halloween night it will be the 28 Senate Pages and Courtney has informed me that it can't be lame it has to be the best party of the year...no pressure though (we are talking "hard to please 16 year-olds" as you well know...wish me luck.

Thanks for your blog. I enjoy keeping up on your family. You're a great writer and a wonderful photographer.

Love you guys.

Julie
