i could be a minivan mom...

i'll admit. i've had recent longings for the conveniences that only a minivan can offer. more trunk space, more seating, a DVD player, automatic sliding doors, cup holders for the kids...etc....

but then my mind flashes back to the days in our hunter green (the most popular color in its day) Ford Aerostar, with the hood that made the car look like a torpedo on wheels. then there were the days in the tan Dodge Caravan with the faux wood siding, where we'd spend most of our family vaction driving time building blanket forts in the back. was there a seatbelt law back then?

and I ask...could I really go there? me. a minivan mom?

Then my friend Sheena mentioned something about a new VW concept car fashioned after the classic microbus. knowing my husbands LOVE for the vintage bus, i had to look into it.

here is what i found. what do you think? i think momma like...

oh my goodness. that is the cutest thing ever. can you buy that? i did not want a minivan...seriously thought i would cry on the way home from buying one. for the first few weeks i wanted to duck when i would drive by a friend. oh but the conveniences they have...they just can't be beat when you have small children. if this car you are showing us is for real, i just may need an upgrade!

I LOVE it! Wish my van was that cool. Before you lay down the big money though you need to check out this...

It made me think twice about wanting to upgrade to a newer, nicer van with all the extras. Sad thing is, my van isn't TOO different from the one at the end.

Isn't it the coolest thing EVER! Maybe even so cool I wouldn't actually want my sticky/dirty kids in it.

I miss my suv, but I do like my van a little--just not a lot.

Summer like too! Go for it! You will be the trend setter. We never had a mini van growing up and I was so sad. I would beg my mom to get one... specifically the dodge one with the wood down the sides!

that is really cute! I still drive an SUV but mini vans seem way more convenient especially with all the features they have now. If I could buy that VW mini van, I would switch over immediately!!

I'd so rock that! Even without kids. Well, I don't really drive anymore so maybe not. I love it though.

You brought back some VAN memories for me. The forts and the car sickness :)

Holy crap I love it! Jesse was talking about getting a souped up econo line van, this may just save me. It's like a stretched out mini.
Thanks for sharing.

Ali, i have the same minivan anxiety. I'm afraid if I buy one it will also come with a lovely pair of acid wash, high waisted mom jeans.

But I know Sheri Samuelian bit teh bullet and just thought, I'm going to swallow my pride, and I'm just going to drive this van for its convenience while my kids are young. then I'll upgrade later.

Not a bad philosophy! But i still don't think I could do it. :)

I love that retro van! I NEVER wanted a mini-van. It's too stereo typical of the big Mormon family, but I am now singing a different tune. Even though we won't ever have more than 2 kids (maybe not even that many) I love the space that it has to offer.

Love the van!

I remember shopping for cars last year, my pride side said, "Get the Pilot!" My practical side said, "Get the Odyssey!" My practical side won!
