I am grateful (99.9% of the time) that I had my kids close together.
My whole plan was to pop these kids out, one right after another, so that they could all be playmates and friends. (and so I didn't end up being 65 before my last child, but nevermind that)
I've had my doubts in this theory along the way. Two kids in diapers. Two kids who lack mature reasoning skills and adequate language development. Two kids who wake each other up out of dreamy sleep on occasion. A body that is still in recovery from 18 months of gestation. and yadda, yadda, yadda...
But in this last month as Lucy has acquired the skill of crawling, it has really livened up the interest factor for Jack!
They now giggle when they see each other. I will hear Jack invite Lucy to go places with him by saying, "Come on, baby". I've even discovered them in my closet adding some color to the carpet with acrylic paints. But honestly, it was undeniably cute to watch them destructing as a team. It was the first of many mischievous acts to come, I'm sure.
Just this week, Lucy found her way through the bottom of our coffee table. Jack's eyes lit up when he discovered Lucy's mastermind of game inventing. They spent the next 15 minutes crawling under the table.
It's just so fun to start to see them playing like friends. I'll enjoy it while it lasts!

Makenzie & Ady are doing the same thing & it is so cute! I love it. I don't love the mess two can make but it sure is fun to watch. Makenzie says "she likes me mom she likes me!"
I can only imagine how much work it must be having 2 kids so close in age but they will probably be such great friends through out their lives. Plus they are super duper cute!
I can't believe she's crawling! Julian just started a week ago! (You can't blame the kid...extra chub is hard to pull along!) Those are awesome kids. I promise to meet them one day.
It won't end anytime soon. Wiley and Rose are 3 years apart and yet they play so well together. (not that I don't have to play ref every once in a while. But siblings will always be siblings. How fun that your kids are already doing it at such a young age!!!
It only gets better from here Ali. Mine are 19 months apart and yesterday they spent hours imagining, creating, racing etc. together. They didn't want to stop for anything I offered-like food or the store. I love it. Yes they fight too but they usually work it out when I don't come (which I usually don't). I love love love that I had them so close! Your two are darling little ones!
I am really enjoying your gratitude thoughts. such a great kick in the pants for me!
ali they are so adorable. you definitely have your hands full... but don't we all :)
Good luck! Isn't funny to see you too kids discovering one another? It's like they never new that this whole time they had friend.
I had mine close together too but I need to work on the gratitude part. Thanks for reminding me of all the positive parts of it! My kids are never lacking a playmate and even though they fight all the time, they are also the best of friends. I hear it gets better when they are older.
Nice pink binkie for Jack...I love it that my kids play together too...it's just that the destructing is getting a little old...how about some cleaning up around here?
