I've always been a fan of the extended birthday. You know, the birthdays when cards are still trickling in days later, or you have multiple parties strung out over a few days.
Well, Jack got his first "taste" of the extended birthday. His real birthday was last week. Then we threw him a pre-birthday party the week before (mostly because he can't get enough of blowing out candles and singing "Happy Birthday"). And yesterday we had a post-birthday party because my parents were in town.
You can never have enough celebrations, in my mind!
Jack loved hanging out with these kids. They are like siblings to him!

Blowing out the candles. We did this three times for three reasons...a.) The first pictures I got did not turn out, b.) Jack loves to blow out flames and c.) We had to get all the mileage we could out of the cake that took me hours to make!
Jack got a HUGE set of Geo Trax for his b-day. I bought them on e-bay after our neighbor let us borrow hers and Jack loved them! I love toys that don't get old after a week of use. I'm sure he will still love these 4 years from now!
Here's Jack taking notes on how the "big boys" set up the tracks.
Thanks mom and dad for sharing this day with us! We only wish more family lived nearby!

Ali - you are a crack up. I love peeking in on your family and seeing the funny way that you guys see life. You take such great pictures. I really love the "review thru the years" pictures that you include. Darling babies, darling house (you should run around giving all of us a tour) and darling birthday cake. How did you do that? I would love to learn how to make beautiful cakes but unforunately I do ones that are only fit for my kids to see. They love me anyway. Keep those great posts coming.
ok, I forgot one thing.....what color white did you guys paint your cabinets? I am glad that your doors are back on. Just email me and let me know if you would. Thanks, Danee
Happy birthday, sweet little Jack!
love the cake...all I gave Luke was a Hostess cupcake with a candle in it,does that win me any awards?
oh my awesome cake and oh my awesome pictures. I told myself that I was going to get great pictures of Preston's party this year and totally failed...
Ok that's not quite what I imagined when you said, "It's a train cake, not in the shape of a train I could't do that, it's just a cake with a train on it." I should have envisioned more then "Just A Cake" it was a masterpiece!!! We love birthday parties! (and I love jack's curly hair)
Oh your kids are so cute Ali, I love looking at your blog. You have such a creative mind, and your house is decorated really cute, I love it.
wow, I knew you took great pictures, but I am REALLY impressed at these since my kids were constantly right in front of one lens or another! camera hogs!
