Breaking my own rules.

I have always maintained my strong moral code of NO Christmas celebration BEFORE Thanksgiving. I thought it was a good rule to stand by. Things can get really out of control, you know, with decorations starting to infiltrate retail shops in OCTOBER!...Ridiculous

But this year something strange happened. i started thinking about Christmas early. The tinsel at Target in October didn't bug. The Christmas music on my cozy station 103.5 didn't seem to phase me. The smell of cinnamon candles was welcome.

So, i broke my own rules.

But I was justified in doing so. Since we were going to be out of town for both Thanksgiving AND Christmas, I figured I would set up the X-mas home decor before Thanksgiving break so that we could come home and enjoy it for as long as we could!

Boy was that a good decision. We are swimming over here in lights, music, candles, baked goods, poinsettias, and holiday spirit.

and I LOVE it!

I'm CRAZY when it comes to Christmas. Because we have Thanksgiving here in October, the rule in our house is no Christmas decorations until after Halloween! I just love having all the lights off except the Christmas tree lights. It just makes everything feel so cozy!

Awesome, I love it that you are in the spirit. You guys did a great job. I am sure Jack is pulling ornaments and bulbs down like Peyton. Peyton has broken three bulbs so far.

How cute....Troy looks like such a man up their on the rooftop! Jim and I finished our lights and he said to me, "Aren't you a little embarassed for our house?" He said we were like the Griswold's. I thought we did a rather festive job, until the lights went out when our sprinklers came on and now won't work! Bah Humbug!

I agree, I enjoy the season too. And it is gone before you know it. I think we will put up our decorations later this week.

You go girl! I love your tree. Very clean, hip, and modern. We let Henry decorate the tree this year and we have 50 million little knick-knack ornaments at knee level. It looks awesome.

But I'm all for bustin' the decorations out early. I asked Scott if he would help me put up all the decorations right before we left for Thanksgiving and he practically laughed right in my face!

Shelly - Maybe I will start a new tradition of Christmas after Canadian Thanksgiving.

Patience - Surprisingly, the tree is the one thing Jack listens to me about. I think he is scared of the prickly needles.

troy looks like he just summited everest. I would too if I had lights on my house that looked that good. It makes me remember putting lights up with jay buns and how terrible they looked compared to troys lights. Ours would always droop and they never made it to the end of the house... they would just end... i wish I had a house to decorate.. Someday...

OOOO!!! I love the little snipits I can see of your Christmas home. I tell ya it looks like the North Pole up here at the Cannons. I too am loving every minute of it. Thankfully Chad's sister is coming to visit tomorrow so someone will be able to see all of the fresh garland, wreaths and tree before they wither up and die in a couple of weeks.

I LOVE that you are too! It seems to go by too fast so you must make it linger longer.

Christmas is too short to only last a month. I was so excited to have a fireplace mantle to decorate this year but after seeing yours mines not so cute. It looks great. Aren't you glad Troy's a perfectionist? The lights are prefect!

This year I was so excited and ready to get our stuff out too! I really love how the house feels and smells with all the Christmas stuff up!!

and the smell I'm referring to is pine needles/baked goods/etc. maybe I should have said "scents."

I would be really jealous of that santa sign if you hadn't already given me one--a favorite decoration for sure. Your house is darling!
