Flashback Friday

"When Troy was Married to a Lesbian"

all pride has officially flown out the window for this flashback!

You see, back in 2002, I was eating at Cafe Rio in Provo when my dear friend Jenna walked in with a new, stylish, short pixie haircut. I was in awe at her beauty and style, neglecting to consider the fact that Jenna, no matter what the style or color, ALWAYS looks smashing! I am pretty sure she could pull off a jet black she-mullet and still look ravishing!

At any rate, I decided that I was going to try a pixie cut for myself. The result...disastrous!

A few days after the butch, troy and I met my family for a cruise to Mexico. Upon first sight of my 3 brothers they immediately started pointing and laughing, then followed up with comments like, "Hi Allen" and "What were you thinking?" and "You really need to stop listening to Indigo Girls". The topic was not dropped after that. The jokes continued for the entire week. The icing on the cake was when I was up at the snack bar and a she-man started picking up on me. She had brown hair, cut in a mullet (of course) and was wearing long jean shorts with a (probably softball) t-shirt on with the sleeves cut off. All my brothers and Troy sat from afar and laughed it up, while I was left to escape my lesbian lover.

Needless to say, I have not tried the pixie cut again. So there you have it!

That is too funny, I love the Picture, don't know what to say about the hair, I am not brave enough to cut off two inches.

No women in the world looks good with short hair. Only other women think so. I guess their is a little dyke in all women. Also the name pixie cut should warn all commers. Who really wants to look like a pixie

Note to self: never try the pixie!

Geez...go easy readers...it was a brief lapse of thinking.

Ali-we're teasing you because we love you and we are all friends-except maybe for anonymous--don't know about that one.

Dear Anonymous
Too scared to leave your name...afraid of the wrath of a powerful, self-confident woman with short hair...afraid some "anonymous" "dyke" might track you down and corner you in an alley with her softball bat? This blog is a place of happiness and sunshine. No anonymous, mean comments allowed please.
Sincerely,
Pixie cuts Husband (yes, I'm male)

You are soooo funny. I love the way you tell you stories. Short hair...definitely not you. But I am sure Troy loves you no matter what.

hilarious....the story, the photo, the storytelling, the anonymous comment, Troy defending you....I had a good laugh at this one.

Yes, Jenna was one of those who pulled everything off effortlessly. But haven't we all wondered what life would be like with no fuss, super short hair? At least now you know, first hand, and don't ever have to wonder! Seriously, too funny!

seriously, I am still chuckling....a place of "happiness and sunshine" signed by the "pixie cuts husband". OH Troy, you kill me!

First, go troy, way to defend your wife. There is some serious power behind that comment. I love it. Ali, you look great whatever you do. I love you just the same and always thought your hair was great. Hope you are doing well. Love u

anonymous blogger. I think it should be "woman" in your first line, and "there", not "their" in the second. No ill intent, just think a little first, huh.
Pick on pixie and get the wrath of us all
You crack me up Ali

Ali,
I laughed my head off reading this! Jed, in the other room, made me read it aloud so he could see what I was laughing at!

Wow it sure stinks to be anonymous right now. No worries though, I'm sure "it's" just some P.E. teacher bitter that you will never be on it's "team"

Way to go Troy.

Way to go urefam for korrecting the mistakes.

Way to go Ali for posting this pic (and great story) in the first place. Sadly I fell into the spell of short hair once too....but we'll see if it ever makes it on the blog...

that is a hilarious story! And I just don't think the hair was all that bad. Of course this is coming from a chick that had purple as a hair color for most of high school, so maybe my vote is biased...

Whew-ee! I need to find something this exciting to talk about....lots of comments. I love it!

I have to say, having never met you in person - you totally can pull anything off! Just recalling your to blonde or not to blonde comment from long ago. You are an absolutely darling person. Gorgeous and Hilarious, great combo!

I DID THAT YOO! Growing it out was a disaster. The hairdresser refused to cut it pixie style - so I did it myself and went on back - OH THE HORROR! You don't look bad in that pic - just much better now. Oh, I'm stalking you through Sheena's blog. Nice to meet you :)

All these people are crazy Ali! I love your hair and you look absolutely gorgeous! I loved having my hair short too. Sometimes I'm tempted to chop it all off again but then I realize I really do enjoy my long hair better. I love you! and no I'm not a lesbian.
